Founded by Chomwan Weeraworawit in 2010, Mysterious Ordinary directs and produces works, projects and events by collaborating with artists, filmmakers, architects, designers and brands.
In addition to creating and executing independent projects, Mysterious Ordinary focuses on intellectual property, branding and marketing strategies for companies and organisations.
Bangkok-born and London-raised, Chomwan Weeraworawit trained in law with a PhD. from King's College London in Intellectual Property and Fashion.
Her introduction to fashion started in 2002 when her made-to-order fashion line, Chomwan, led to a commission to design the uniforms for Kittichai restaurant in NYC. Other uniforms followed in London, Paris and Bangkok. She then co-founded and was creative director of a fashion label called Nsha. After Nsha, she started the blog chomontherox and her next venture was to put together the intellectual property strategy at Thailand's largest TV and media network. This led to an introduction to the world of film where at the network she found herself producing films and striking channel deals with major international networks. She also found herself to be an ally to some of Thailand's leading figures in independent cinema. A continuing dialogue with filmmaker Lee Chatametikul, actor Ananda Everingham and filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasekthakul was born. In 2010, Chomwan co-hosted a dinner in NYC with Francesco Vezzoli, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Tilda Swinton, Marc Jacobs and Brian Phillips for the premier of Weerasethakul's Palme d'Or-winning Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. This eventually led to a further collaboration with the director, Weesatkahul co-curating the first edition of Film on the Rocks with Tilda Swinton, a film festival which Chomwan co-founded in 2011.
Projects in the last ten years have also included consultation on PR, marketing and branding. In addition, as a writer, Chomwan has contributed to Purple Magazine, L'Uomo Vogue, The Bangkok Post, 2Magazine, Harper's Bazaar Thailand, Thailand Tatler, Showstudio.com amongst other publications and platforms.
Chomwan currently lives between Bangkok and NYC with her family.
